Our Schools
We currently serve 10 campuses in the Abilene, Wylie, and Snyder Independent School Districts.



Erica started with Communities In Schools in 2008. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Troy State University.

LC started with Communities In Schools in 2017. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Abilene Christian University. LC has worked with youth in different organizations since 2010 in Austin, Denver, and here in Abilene Texas.
Thurmond started with Communities In Schools in 2005. He has an associates degree in Music Education from Southwestern Christian College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University.
Chance started with Communities In Schools in 2016. He has Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Abilene Christian University. He brings a rich background of youth work to the CIS team including experience with New Horizons and Boys & Girls Club.
Kaitlin started with Communities In Schools in 2016 after working as a student intern at Abilene High School while completing graduate school. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy.

Joe started with Communities In Schools in 2007. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies All-Level Physical Education from McMurry University where he also played football.
Sheila started with Communities In School in 2005 as the Campus Coordinator at Fannin Elementary. She moved to Ortiz Elementary in 2011 and to Craig Middle School in 2015. Sheila has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Social Work from Abilene Christian University, she also has a Child Development Associate Credential.
Alana began working with Communities In Schools in 2017. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Social Work from Abilene Christian University in 2008. She has worked with youth for the past four years in juvenile probation. Alana is excited to help serve students on her campus.


Kelsey started with Communities In Schools as an intern at South Plains in Lubbock, Texas, and joined Communities In Schools of the Big Country in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Science In Human Development Family Studies from Texas Tech University. Kelsey is excited to be with CIS building relationships with students and helping them to be successful in school and life. – Wylie High School, Wylie Junior High School, and Wylie Middle School
Lauren started with Communities In Schools as an intern at Northeast Texas in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and joined Communities In Schools of the Big Country in 2015. She graduated with a Master of Science in Social Work from Abilene Christian University in 2015. Lauren is looking forward to serving Abilene students and families!
